Abe Brown Ministries presents "Inside the Writer's Story" at the 33rd Annual Ministry Celebration

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

TAMPA, FL (October 10, 2017) -- Abe Brown Ministries will host its 33rd Annual Ministry Celebration on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Hilton Tampa Downtown from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This year's celebration will feature "Inside the Writer's Story" -- a live interview segment between Floyd LaFountain and Dan Sullivan, Tampa Bay Times staff writer. Dan covers Hillsborough County courts for the Tampa Bay Times. Since joining the Times in 2010, Dan Sullivan has written about unsolved crimes, the opioid epidemic, gun control, and Florida's death row, among other topics. Most recently, Dan's article about Floyd LaFountain's release from prison was published on July 5, 2017. LaFountain was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 16. He was released from prison in February 2017 after serving 22 years.

"When young children are sentenced to prison, they are subject to unspeakable acts of violence and verbal abuse at the hands of adults. Without proper counseling and help upon exiting prison, the long-term psychological effects evolve into destructive behavior and hopelessness. Floyd LaFountain's story is a clear example of how making poor choices at an early age can lead to severe consequences. Our mission at Abe Brown Ministries is to minister to those in prison, and provide an appropriate plan of care upon their release," said Robert Blount, president of Abe Brown Ministries.

Annual Ministry Celebration special guests include Rev. Morris E. Hintzman, D.D., president of the Metropolitan Ministries Foundation and Public Defender of the 13th Judicial Circuit, Julianne M. Holt. Dinner will be served. Attendees will have an opportunity to make a tax-deductible pledge or contribution to Abe Brown Ministries at the event. The ministry will share the progress and highlights of the year, and continue to help returning citizens that grew up in prison to dare to hope again.
